Maintaining Long-Term E-Commerce Success (CTGE 443C, CEUs: 0.6)

Measure, Model, Monitor. These are the themes explored in this course and are the fundamental keys to ongoing fine-tuning that is required for competitive e-commerce applications. Using commercially available tools and processes, you will learn how to measure application performance and site traffic along with data mining to determine product and customer trends.

Examine proactive and predictive benefits of simulating site and process changes in applications before actual implementation. You will explore monitoring tools and methodologies for establishing and observing key indicators of success. Upon completion of this course, you will have the ability to describe and demonstrate approaches for defining and measuring success whether yours is an entry-level or sophisticated business venture. Topics include:

  • Defining success for the enterprise and customer
  • Determining your target audience
  • Site performance
  • Measuring success
  • Predictive performance engineering
  • Benefits and approaches to modeling

Activities include online demonstrations, case studies and classroom discussion exploring guidelines and methodologies for ensuring that e-commerce sites optimize their appeal and profitability in the long-term. Reading materials include periodicals (The Industry Standard, Red Herring, Upside).

Note: Students can substitute the Process behind E-Commerce Success (CTGE 443Y) for this course.

Prerequisites: Successfully Managing an E-Commerce Project (ctge 443B) plus a strong desire/interest to successfully measure and evolve Internet technology (e-commerce Internet, intranet and extranet sites).
